What makes New Vyshyvanka different from other Ukrainian-themed shops?

Every design we sell is original. We don't reproduce traditional folk patterns or copy historical embroidery — we create new graphic interpretations of Ukrainian design tradition, with hidden typography, encoded names, and meanings built into the geometry. Look at our products closely and you'll see what we mean: a Kyiv tee that hides the city's name inside a chestnut-flower motif, a Names Collection piece where the letters of your name are the embroidery pattern, a Fuck Putin t-shirt where the message is encoded into a vyshyvanka-style design.

We're also a women-owned, women-designed small business based in Vancouver, Washington — not a drop-shipping reseller of someone else's designs. Every pattern in our catalog was designed by our founder Tetyana. And 30% of our profits go to charities supporting Ukrainian causes.

Are these real embroideries or just printed designs?

It depends on the product. Most of our apparel — t-shirts, crop tops, hoodies, long sleeve tees, sweatshirts — features real embroidery, stitched directly onto the chest in the same size and technique as our 3-inch patches (roughly a 4×4 inch piece of threadwork). Our patches are also real embroidery.

Our all-over print products — totes, mugs, pillows, blankets, swimwear, sports bras, headbands, fanny packs — use printed designs. Most apparel pieces use a high-quality printing method where the fabric is printed first and then cut and sewn, so the pattern wraps the entire garment continuously rather than being stamped on top. Throw blankets and socks use sublimation printing, which bonds the dye into the fabric at the fiber level — meaning the design won't peel, crack, or fade.

Where are your products made?

We work with an on-demand fulfillment partner with production facilities worldwide. Depending on where you order from, your product is made at the facility closest to you — typically in the US, EU, or Mexico for North American and European orders. This keeps shipping faster and reduces our environmental footprint. Each product is made specifically for you when you place the order, not pre-stocked in a warehouse.

How accurate are the colors in the product photos?

We work hard to photograph our products as accurately as possible, but there are two factors that affect what you see on screen versus what you receive:

First, different monitors and phones render color differently — what looks vivid on an OLED phone screen may look slightly muted on a desktop monitor or vice versa.

Second, our products are made in small batches, and natural variations in fabric dye lots can cause subtle differences between batches. These variations are usually minor (within a few percent on shade) and are part of how on-demand production works.

If a color difference is significant enough to feel wrong, contact us at store@newvyshyvanka.com within 30 days of delivery and we'll make it right.

What does "made to order" actually mean?

When you place an order, we don't pull it from a warehouse — we send your specifications to our production partner, who makes the product specifically for you. The garment is embroidered or printed, packaged, and shipped to your address. This process takes 2–7 business days before the package leaves the facility, plus standard shipping time to reach you.

Why we work this way: it means we don't carry inventory we might never sell, we don't waste materials on speculative production, and we can offer original designs across many sizes and colors without warehousing thousands of variants. The tradeoff is that you wait a little longer — typically 1–2 weeks total — but the product was made for you, not for some hypothetical customer.

Where does the 30% donation go?

30% of our net profits go to organizations supporting Ukrainian causes. The specific recipients vary based on what's most urgently needed at any given time — humanitarian relief, medical aid, refugee support, cultural preservation, and similar work. Can I order custom embroidery designs?

Yes! We offer custom embroidery design services for individuals, couples, families, and small organizations. Common requests include custom name embroideries (in our signature hidden-letter style), wedding or anniversary commemorations, family crests, organizational logos with a Ukrainian aesthetic, and bespoke designs based on specific symbols or meanings.

Custom designs typically take 2–4 weeks from initial conversation to finished product. To start a custom design conversation, email us at store@newvyshyvanka.com with a description of what you have in mind, your budget range, and any visual references you'd like to share.

Ordering and Shipping

When will I receive my order?

It takes 2-7 days to fulfill an order, after which it’s shipped out.

The shipping time depends on your location, but typical shipping times are:  

USA: 3-​4 business days  

International: 5-15 business days

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — orders over $60 ship free with code FREESHIP at checkout. The discount applies to both US and international orders. We sometimes run additional promotions (sale events, new collection launches) — sign up for our newsletter to hear about them first.

How do I track my order?

You’ll receive a tracking link via email when your order ships out. If you have any questions about your tracking or shipment, drop us a line at store@newvyshyvanka.com.

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?

Because our products are made to order and production starts shortly after you place the order, we can only cancel or change orders that haven't yet entered production. Contact us at store@newvyshyvanka.com as quickly as possible — typically within 2 hours of placing the order — and we'll do our best to catch it before production begins. Once an order is in production, we can't cancel or modify it.

What do I need to know about ordering internationally?

Shipments outside of the USA may incur customs fees depending on the destination country. The fee may vary depending on your order value, country limits, and other factors based on the product itself. End recipient is responsible for these fees.

We highly recommend including your phone number in the order when ordering internationally - this will minimize the risk of an order being lost in transit and make delivery of the order smoother.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship worldwide with a few exceptions, due to international sanctions, operational restrictions, or our own ethical policies.

We do not currently ship to:

  • Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions of Ukraine
  • Russian Federation
  • Belarus
  • Ecuador
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • Syria
  • North Korea

All other countries are eligible. International orders typically arrive within 5–15 business days after shipping, plus standard production time.

Where will my order ship from?

Your order ships from the production facility closest to your delivery address — typically in the US, EU, or Mexico. We work with an on-demand fulfillment partner with facilities worldwide, which means your order's carbon footprint is smaller (less long-haul shipping) and you receive it faster (closer origin).

My order should be here by now, but I still don't have it. What should I do?

Before getting in touch with us, please help us out by doing the following:

● Check your shipping confirmation email for any mistakes in the delivery address. 

● Ask your local post office if they have your package. 

● Stop by your neighbors in case the courier left the package with them. 

Pro tip: Package theft is on the rise — ​ If you're expecting a home delivery and you know you won't  be home to accept it, use an address where you know you'll be! 

If the shipping address was correct, and the package wasn't left at the post office or at your  neighbor’s, get in touch with us at store@newvyshyvanka.com with your order number. 

If you did find a mistake in your delivery address, we can send you a replacement order, but  the new order would be at your expense.

Returns, Refunds, and Quality Issues

What’s your return policy?

Because every product is made to order, all sales are final — we don't accept returns or exchanges for change of mind, sizing errors, or buyer's remorse. We can't restock a product that was specifically made for you.

That said, if something is genuinely wrong with your order — defects, wrong item, damage in transit, or significant deviation from the product description — we'll replace it or refund you. Contact us at store@newvyshyvanka.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the issue.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, in specific situations:

  • Wrong item received
  • Defective or damaged product (with photos)
  • Significant deviation from product description
  • Lost packages (after 15 business days domestic, 30 business days international, past the expected delivery date)

Are the items true to size?

Generally, yes — our apparel is true to size. Each product page has a detailed size chart in the product description section. Because we don't offer exchanges (every item is made to order), we strongly recommend checking the size chart before ordering. If you're between sizes, sizing up usually works better for our unisex tees and crop tops.

If you receive an item that's clearly mislabeled (a size M arrives but is measured as a size S), contact us within 30 days and we'll replace it.

Can I exchange an item for a different size/color?

Because we don't offer exchanges, sizing is something to think about before ordering. A few things that help:

  • Check the size chart on every product page. It's in the product description section and includes measurements for every size we offer.
  • Our apparel runs true to size — if you usually wear a medium, a medium will fit. For unisex tees and crop tops specifically, if you're between sizes, sizing up tends to work better.
  • Children's sizes (toddler and youth) follow standard US sizing.

If you receive an item that's clearly mislabeled — for example, a size M arrives but measures as a size S — contact us at store@newvyshyvanka.com within 30 days with your order number and photos of the issue. We'll send you a replacement or issue a refund.

I received a wrong/damaged product, what should I do?

We’re so sorry if the product you ordered arrived damaged. To help us resolve this for you quickly, please email us at store@newvyshyvanka.com within 30 days of delivery with photos of the damaged product, your order number, and any other details you may have about your order. We'll get back to you with a resolution within 2 business days.

Product disclaimers:

Sometimes, there might be a vinegary smell on the garments you receive. Luckily, the odor you smell is just a temporary addition. Now that your product is out of the confined space of the shipping bag, the printing smell will dissipate after a few days and a wash cycle.

You may notice some discoloration or off white residue on your apparel. Do not worry! These are not stains and will wash off after the first wash cycle. Our apparel is created with the latest in garment printing technology. In addition, inks used are water-based and eco-friendly.

If you receive a product with a mark - please wash it before reporting a problem.
