Zhytomyr Embroidered Patch

Zhytomyr is Polissia — ancient forests, old traditions, embroidery patterns that have been passed down through generations in some of the most isolated villages in Ukraine. The geometric forms here are among the oldest in the country: squares, rhombuses, crosses, rosettes. Repeating rhythmic structures that feel less like decoration and more like language.

Red and black, the classic Polissia palette. Red for life, love, and vitality. Black for the strength of the earth and the resilience that comes from it. The combination is striking precisely because it doesn't try to be.

This patch is my graphic interpretation of that tradition — the ancient geometry of Zhytomyr, rebuilt in my own visual language. The city's name is embedded in the design.
